SUSANNE VOLLMER – SINNESVILLA
Fraktala mönster och former, ett skräckinjagande matematiskt tal, ljus i form av klöver, en kameleont på täcket, ett träd som blockerar synfältet, och maran. Det är alla exempel på saker folk upplevt som inte egentligen funnits där.
En hallucination är ett sinnesintryck som inte stämmer överens med verkligheten. Att se, höra, uppleva känslor på kroppen, känna lukt och smak av saker som inte finns där på riktigt är mycket vanligare än vad en kan tro.Vissa människor söker sig till hallucinationerna – genom droger eller via olika metoder som påverkar sinnena – andra önskar inget hellre än att bli av med sina.
Sinnesvilla presenterar skulpturer, målningar och objekt gjorda utifrån människors upplevelser av hallucinationer, tillsammans med teckningar av växter och skulpturer av arter i naturen som innehåller hallucinogena substanser.
Susanne Vollmer har länge intresserat sig för hur vi uppfattar och tolkar vår tillvaro och omvärld. Hon har tidigare arbetat med associationer, drömtydning, rorschachtestet och medicinalväxters egenskaper, och de senaste åren synestesi. Sinnesvilla blir Susanne Vollmers fjärde separatutställning på galleriet.

Fractal patterns and shapes, a terrifying mathematical equation, lights in the shape of clovers, a chameleon making an appearance on one’s blanket, a tree that blocks the visual field, and meeting the Mare, these are all examples of things people have experienced that were not actually there.
A hallucination is a sensory experience that does not correspond with reality. To see, hear, smell, taste and feel things that are not really there is much more common than one might think. Some people seek out hallucinations – via drugs or other methods that affect the senses – others wish nothing else but to rid themselves of theirs.
The exhibition Sinnesvilla presents sculptures, paintings and objects based on people’s experiences with hallucinations, together with drawings and sculptures of species in nature containing hallucinogenic substances.
Susanne Vollmer is interested in how we perceive and interpret our existence and the world around us. She has worked with associations, dream interpretation, the rorschach test and medicinal plants, and in recent years synesthesia. The exhibition Sinnesvilla will be Susanne Vollmer’s fourth exhibition with the gallery.
